In a week of dreary weather the ML Birders caught only a few sprinkles and even a little sun on their trip to Fish House Cove and environs along the Delaware River. The cove area has a nice elevated boardwalk that passes through some leafy trees and leads out to a marsh and view of the river. Lots of bird song and sightings that included Baltimore Orioles and warblers like Common Yellow-throat, Black-throated Green and Yellow Warbler, and a Ruby-throated Hummingbird. We probably missed some by not knowing their songs and calls. Leaving the cove area we went up river to a boat ramp near a couple of bridges. We picked up a Peregrine Falcon perched on a bridge that also had a hack\/nesting box. We ended the trip at the Rt. 73 Railroad Station that offered some nice views of a Green Heron in a tree across a small lake, as well as a brief look at a Spotted Sandpiper whose short, stiff wingbeats are very distinctive. We totaled 36 species for the trip.<\/p>
