Medford Leas Residents Association

Arboretum Day at Lumberton

On the Lumberton Campus, Evening at the Arboretum expanded into Arboretum Day. On April 30, we enjoyed a day of activities designed for us to spend time with our neighbors and be outdoors, appreciating all that our campus has to offer.

Volunteers organized walks on paths and trails, held open houses at the Community Garden and Wood Shop, conducted hands-on lessons in their favorite activities, played games, and swapped plants and gardening supplies. There were refreshments throughout the day in the Community Building, and the Cool Hand Ukes rounded out the day with a sing-along performance.

Welcome
Flossie and flowers greeted us at the Community Center
Trail walk
Two residents led a trail walk that highlighted improvements made over the last several years.

A little later, we all gathered with our respective clusters by the meadow. At 6 p.m., three blasts on an air horn sounded, and we all toasted the Arboretum and enjoyed the nibbles and beverages provided by Medford Leas.

Editor’s note: Jim Alexander made a terrific video of the event. You’ll want to share this link with friends and family: bit.ly/arboretum22.

In the great room, hands on beading and origami lessons kept some residents busy, while others discussed genealogical research techniques and creating family history records.

Games
Outdoor games were set up behind the Community Building. They offered croquet and bocce, but the great attraction was corn hole.
Cool Hand Ukes
The Cool Hand Ukes played selections related to the party atmosphere of the cluster parties to come—“Tiny Bubbles in the Wine,” “Rock Around the Clock,” and “Show Me the Way to Go Home.”
Food Box
Each of us received a box of snacks from Medford Leas.
