Black-necked Stilt

The Medford Leas Birders 2024 Pathways trip enjoyed a beautiful day with a perfect temperature, light breeze, blue sky and just a few green-headed flies. The birding was fine, too. Highlights were a Black Swan (an Australian native and probably an escape from captivity); and four Black-necked Stilts, close enough to provide good photo ops. Other birds included plenty of Snowy and Great Egrets, a few Yellowlegs, Red-winged Blackbirds (still territorial), and plenty of Wrens, Yellowthroats, and Catbirds.  The brand-new Visitor Center and paved auto-tour route made this a pleasant summer destination.

Participants:  Judy Austermiller, Earl Evans, Robert Koch, Laurie Larson, David Wurster.
