Great Blue Heron

It was a top ten weather day in a beautiful setting but only a fair day for the number and variety of birds seen and heard. Plenty of Osprey, Great Blue Herons and Great Egrets, but not a great number and variety of song birds along the woodland paths. We did get real good looks at an Eastern Towhee and got all the gulls but the Greater Blackback. After a pleasant picnic lunch we headed home but stopped on the way at White’s Bog and drove along the dikes where we picked up about eight Greater Yellowlegs, a Belted Kingfisher and our only waterfowl of the day, a flock of Mallards.
