Four ML Birders lucked out with a bright, sunny, windless and by mid-morning almost “balmy” day to count the campus birds. Most of the expected birds we commonly see were present but we did not pick up an American Goldfinch and the usually populated feeders were quite barren. Lots of Blue Jays, Cardinals, House Finches, White-throated Sparrows and Carolina Wrens. The only raptors were Turkey and Black Vultures, with the former posing on a Bridlington roof vent spreading its wings. Red-bellied, Downy and Northern Flicker woodpeckers were also relatively abundant. A few Yellow-rumped Warblers, a Bluebird, Ruby Crowned Kinglet and a Hermit Thrush also made the list this year.

Participants: Dino Fiabane, Robert Koch, Kay Smith and Miriam Swartz. Feeder data: Ro Wilson.
