Buddhist Meditation
The Buddhist Meditation Group fosters non-sectarian Buddhist practice in the Medford Leas community such as mindfulness meditation, wise speech, compassion, noticing the good in life, and generosity. Meetings are open to all residents and guests as allowed by the policies of Medford Leas. All meetings are free.
Currently meeting by Zoom every Monday from 3 to 4 p.m. and in person every Wednesday from 10:30 a.m. to noon, each session begins with a 30-minute meditation. This is usually followed with a talk by a facilitator and a group discussion or a discussion of a book. At both meetings people from the surrounding communities are welcome, as well as residents of Medford Leas, and in one instance included someone from Colorado on Zoom.
Catholic Mass
Father Kevin says Mass in the Theater on the third Friday of every month.
Protestant Communion
There is Protestant Communion in the Theater at 1 p.m. on the first Wednesday of each month.
Quaker Friends
Quaker Friends Worship: The Worship Group Committee, consisting of about eight to ten Quakers and regular attenders of the Worship Group, works to encourage the presence of Quakers and Quaker practices at Medford Leas. To this end, the committee models Quaker worship practices, stocks printed handouts, selects new books for the Medford Leas Quaker bookshelf, makes worship as physically accessible as possible, and stays in contact with aging Friends in Assisted Living.
Vespers
A Vespers Service is held every Sunday afternoon in the Theater at 4:00 p.m. Religious leaders from several local Protestant churches give of their free time to help conduct the services. Several residents also volunteer their time to host, provide music, and broadcast the services through the Medford Campus in-house TV. The service begins with a ten-minute hymn-sing where participants have the opportunity to suggest their favorite hymns.
In the private, password-protected directory, the MLRA Activities List and LCRA Committees List provide contact information for these activities.
