On the Lumberton Campus, Evening at the Arboretum expanded into Arboretum Day. On April 30, we enjoyed a day of activities designed for us to spend time with our neighbors and be outdoors, appreciating all that our campus has to offer.
Volunteers organized walks on paths and trails, held open houses at the Community Garden and Wood Shop, conducted hands-on lessons in their favorite activities, played games, and swapped plants and gardening supplies. There were refreshments throughout the day in the Community Building, and the Cool Hand Ukes rounded out the day with a sing-along performance.
A little later, we all gathered with our respective clusters by the meadow. At 6 p.m., three blasts on an air horn sounded, and we all toasted the Arboretum and enjoyed the nibbles and beverages provided by Medford Leas.
Editor’s note: Jim Alexander made a terrific video of the event. You’ll want to share this link with friends and family: bit.ly/arboretum22.
