Medford Leas Residents Association

When CEO Jeremy Vickers joined Medford Leas in October of 2010, he brought not only 25 years of wide experience in administering senior living organizations, but also in developing new or existing Continuing Care Retirement Communities as Senior Vice President of New Life Management & Development in Mount Laurel, a for-profit senior living development company. His priorities and leadership are very much visible throughout the decade that followed.

In his first year at Medford Leas, he introduced a strong appreciation for teamwork and established a five-member leadership team. Among accomplishments, he and the team:

  • Moved operating performance from a deficit to a surplus position;
  • Controlled expenses to keep the monthly service fee to its lowest level in years;
  • Improved clinical benchmarks and survey results in Assisted Living and nursing units, and converted third floor Haddon to Assisted Living;
  • Improved communication and transparency of the budget process and financial reporting;
  • Continued the redesign and refurbishment of Bridlington residences;
  • Turned over Lumberton’s Woodside Drive to township management.

Jeremy and the team also began work on important projects:

  • Redevelopment of the Estaugh and Haddon medical buildings;
  • Replacing electronic medical records and billing systems for the Health Center (now the Wellness Center);
  • Replacement of the main roofs and starting the first solar energy project;
  • Introducing new health care services;
  • Implementing new telephone/internet/cable options;
  • Rolling out new contract options.

Throughout the next ten years Jeremy’s primary focus has been on the financial strength of Medford Leas, its infrastructure, and on forward-looking technology.

In 2015, he brought in Abby Loftus as Chief Financial Officer. Abby worked for twelve years for ParenteBeard, formerly Philadelphia’s largest accounting firm. She brought with her three years of experience as lead auditor of Medford Leas finances for fiscal years 2011, 2012 and 2013, during which she had contact with Jeremy Vickers, the Estaugh Board and senior staff members. She had considerable knowledge of the technology of finance, and enjoys the wider view of CFO over auditing — a single moment in time.
