Medford Leas Singers Fall Concert

On Saturday, November 23, the Medford Leas Singers, led by Danielle Peterson Boyd, sang a rousing concert to a packed audience in the theater. After our spring concert, the more than thirty members from both campuses decided that we could handle learning music for two concerts this year. So we set about learning new music in September and were able to produce an hour-long concert for the fall.

The repertoire included Broadway, sacred music, traditional favorites, and folk songs.

So we set about learning new music in September and were able to produce an hour-long concert for the fall.

The repertoire included Broadway, sacred music, traditional favorites, and folk songs.

We started with a medley of patriotic songs and then presented some songs about Thanksgiving. Later came a group of songs from The Music Man,  accompanied by Barbara Lassen on the kazoo.

Solos included Alan Bruce’s rendition of “Young at Heart,” Lucia Wahl’s “senior citizen” version of “Are You Lonesome Tonight?”, “I’ll Walk with God” sung by Dave Kahley, a lovely folksong sung by Deedy Roberts, and I sang a song about the man who dueled Errol Flynn in the movies.

The Vesper’s Quartet, consisting of Deedy Roberts, Dick Webster, and my husband Dave Kahley and I, sang “It Is Well With My Soul.” The program concluded with “Bless This House.”

Miriam Bisbing was the wonderful accompanist who kept the group on track as they followed Danielle’s excellent direction. And from the welcome applause and the many comments we received, we think the audience was pleased.

The Medford Leas Singers rehearse every Friday morning from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. and is always looking for new members.
