Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons is one of the most familiar and loved pieces of classical music. How can a musician today create a fresh take on something people already know so well?
As Conductor of Concerto Soloists (now the Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia), Lumberton resident Marc Mostovoy has experimented over the years with combining music and visual media to heighten audiences’ appreciation of classical music. In that same spirit, he has taken his own recordings of The Four Seasons, which feature his wife Mi-Young Park as violin soloist, and created a comprehensive treatment that combines music, poetry and art — all with the goal of deepening listeners’ understanding of and involvement in the music.
If you attended recent MLRA meetings, you’ve seen portions of this work, and Marc would like to share it with music lovers everywhere. He and Lumberton resident Ann Campbell created a website to host this multimedia Four Seasons, which you can access by visiting vivaldi4seasons.com.
