The ML Birders had to postpone their count from January 18 to January 19 2018, due to inclement weather. However, a late afternoon walk on the count day did garner three raptors and one duck species. They will be *asterisked in the listing. Combining the two days a total of 37 species and 3,038 individuals were seen and/or heard.

Canada Geese were extremely abundant on Monarch Lake and the Rancocas Creek and our number total is probably a conservative estimate. Similarly, Robins were difficult to count as they occurred in clusters in trees, on the ground and in the air. Last year we had great numbers of Common Mergansers but this year not a single individual. We also missed the Great Horned Owl. Even though we had some misses, a walk in the woods counting birds on a sunny and crisp winter day is a great tonic for the seasonal blahs.

Participants: Joe Costanza, Robert Koch, Kay Smith and Miriam Swartz.

Feeder data: Ann Campbell, Dino Fiabane and Pete McCord.
