The PPA’s Rancocas Creek Farm was our second short trip of the year, and we combined it with a visit to the Eagle’s Walk Green Acres trail in Vincentown. The weather was delightful with starting temperatures in the mid 60’s into the mid 70’s at Eagle’s Walk. Purple Martins were using the newly erected gourd houses in the CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) area. We tried for the Dickcissels that were recently seen in the open fields of the PPA, but had no luck. We only saw one warbler (Common Yellowthroat) at PPA. An Eastern Kingbird landed in a tree for a nice look in the parking lot and Bluebirds were making good use of the nest boxes. Tree and Barn Swallows were flying over the fields. An Indigo Bunting sat at the top of an old snag in the field just after a Red-tail Hawk left its perch. We heard a Great Crested Flycatcher and Red-eyed Vireos at Eagle’s Walk.
