Campus Communications to

The
Communications Comittee oversees the coordination and disseminination
information by the following subcommittees and is responsible
for updating the handbook.
- Campus
Mail -- delivers internal mail between the two campuses
- Chronicle
-- creates the monthly newsletter, The Lumberton Campus
Chronicle, which includes campus news, essays, and
other submissions of general interest, and important information
from the Lumberton and Medford campuses. The Chronicle
can be obtained via email and is
available in the private section of the MLRA website.

- Clusters
-- The Lumberton Campus is divided into eight clusters,
each of which includes twelve to fifteen living units.
The purpose of each cluster is to establish an informational
and social base for current and new residents. That includes
the use of a phone tree to communicate pertinent information
from both campuses; assistance in emergency situations,
if requested; and organization of cluster social events.
- Resident
Directory -- responsible for compilation of the directory
of personal biographies andphotos of each resident. The
directory is given to each new resident upon moving in,
and updated for current residents.

Lumberton
Community Center to
index
The Community Center Committee kiases with Medford Leas Operations,
Maintenance, and Environment Services Departments in non-food
matters involving the physical plant, fixtures and appliances,
repairs and improvements, shared storage areas, and other major
issues as they occur throughout the entire building, including
the kitchen. The committee includes the following subcommttees.
- Art
Gallery -- selects and hangs qrtwork of distinguished resident
artists.
- Building
Audit -- regularly inspects the Community Center.
- Bulletin
Board -- sets rules regarding the use of the limited space on
the bulletin boards and keeps the posted material current, and
also sets and monitors rules for posters displayed on easels
in the lobby.
- Kitchen
-- responsible for the general appearance of the kitchen, inventory
and maintenance of furnishings, arrangements of cupboardsand
closet cpmtemts. Rules are posted in the kitchen.
- Reservations
-- coordinates the calendarof all Community Center reservations.
Lumberton
Campus Library to
index
The
Library Committee organizes and manages books, DVDs,audio books,
CDs, and other materials donated by residents. The collection
is reviewed periodically; excess or outdated books are donated
to the Thrift Shop on the Medford campus.
- The
Book Club, a subcommittee, is open to any resident who chooses
to join. A wide variety of books is read. Residents are welcom
to join the group the third Wednesdy of the month from October
to June at 2:00 pm in the Community Center Conference Room.
- The
Bookmobile Subcommittee liaises with the Burlington County Library
System which provides bi-weekly service at the Lumberton Community
Center.

Lumberton
Pool and Fitness to
index
The Pool and Fitness Center Committee, in consultation with
the Fitness Staff, sets the rules and regulations for the
Fitness Center and swimming pool and the scheduling of organized
activities in these areas. |
Lumberton
Social Activities to
index
The
Social Activies Committee organizes community gatherings, such
as potluck suppers, holiday celebrations and catered dinners and
occasional special events. The committee consists of the Bridge
Group, Kitchen,and Welcome subcommittees, and oversees Game Night.
The
Welcome Subcommittee is responsible for visiting new residents,
supplying them with pertinent information including the Residents
Handbook, and discussing an immediate questions new residents
might have.
The
Kitchen Subcommittee oversees the consumable supplies in the kitchen.
Rules concerning resident use of supplies and equipment are posted
in the kitchen.
Lumberton
Technology
The
Technology Committe oversees, maintains, and educates residents
on the proper use of the electronic equipment in the Community
Center. Its areas of responsibility include the copier, computer,
printer, scanner, audio/visual equipment, projection equipment,
headsets for the hearing-impaired, and the low vision magnifier.

Tennis to

Tennis Committee oversees maintenance of the tennis courts and
sets the rules and regulations for use of the courts. It also
organizes play schedules, indoor play in winter, and social events.
Lumberton Trails and Site to
index
The entire Lumberton Campus -- landscaped areas, meadow, woodlands,
wetlands -- is part of the Barton Arboretum and Nature Preserve.
The Trails and Site Committee maintains the trails in the 45 acre
woodland and wetland area below the campus. It also monitors the
paved perimeter walkway, fences and benches, bridges, canoe dock
and creek, meadow, and general outdoor areas. The committee works
in cooperation with the Medford Leas Maintenance Department and
provides volunteer labor to address issues of repair, invasive
plants, and so forth. Two members of the committee provide leadership
to the Community Garden -- assigning plots to residents and acting
as liaision to the Maintenance Department.

Woodshop to
index
The
Workshop Committee supervises the running of the workshop
which proves a place for residents to use the many fine
tools that have been donated and provides services for all
residents. |
